This weekend was our 5th wedding anniversary! Five has felt like a milestone. Junwen mentioned that it feels more like ten! The reason for that, I suppose, is because of all the things that have happened in just a few measly years…bar examinations, job transitions, church transitions, graduation…I was thinking about what to write in light of this big anniversary and I realized I had never blogged our engagement story…so, first things first!
June had just slipped in and we were in my hometown, Sheboygan, to attend my youngest sister’s high school graduation. The topic of engagement had been discussed since March (I think), but there were a few conversations I wanted to have before I was willing to take the next step. (Let’s save that for another time. 🙂 ) By June those talks had happened, so I admit that I wondered if he would pop the question during this trip. As you can see, he did! The following are excerpts from a “Facebook documentary” that has long since receded into the bowels of the past—although, I did get a refresher last June thanks to apps like Timehop and Facebook memories that pull up posts made on that day. 😉
“Hey Junwen, it’s our first day here and it’s gorgeous out, and I’d love to talk a walk along the lake to see it…wanna go?”
“Yes, definitely!” Plan to get her on a walk to the Lake, check!
“Which way do you want to go, through the park or along the path?”
“Which way is towards North Point?”
“Oh, that’s along the path!”
“Let’s go that way!” Head in the right direction, double check!
